Skin pre & post care

You CANNOT receive a skin treatment if any of the following conditions are present in the treatment areas. Our estheticians will not work around these conditions. If any condition listed below is present when you arrive, your appointment will be cancelled and the TOTAL COST of the scheduled services will be charged to your credit card on file.

  1. Scabs, open sores, cuts, abrasions, or broken skin (including lacerations, recent biopsies, and “picked” skin)

  2. Recent cosmetic procedures (within 2 weeks): injectables, permanent makeup, laser resurfacing, electrolysis, microneedling, or chemical peels

  3. Any condition causing sensitivity to touch in the face, neck, chest, or shoulders (such as broken bones, recent surgery, tooth abscess, or extreme inflammation)

  4. Bruises or swelling from trauma

  5. Sunburn or windburn

  6. Contagious diseases

  7. Cold sores or fever blisters

  8. Bacterial infections (e.g., staph, conjunctivitis, styes)

  9. Fungal infections (e.g., ringworm)

  10. Bleeding

  11. Being under the influence of drugs or alcohol

Your skin's condition may limit which treatments your esthetician can perform. While the following conditions won't necessarily prevent treatment altogether, they may require modifications to your service.

  1. Hair removal (waxing, shaving, or depilatories) within the last 72 hours

  2. Sensitized skin from prescription or over-the-counter medications and exfoliants, including: • Isotretinoin (Accutane) • Tretinoin (Retin-A) • Epiduo • Renova • Differin • Adapalene • Tazarotene (Tazorac) • Steroids • Antibiotics • Benzoyl peroxide • Scrubs, brushes, AHAs (lactic, glycolic, mandelic), or retinoids

  3. Eczema or Psoriasis — These become contraindications only when they cause open or broken skin.

  4. Acne or Rosacea — These become contraindications when inflammation makes skin sensitive to light touch. Ask your esthetician about starting an inflammation-reducing home care routine to prepare for treatments.

  5. Skin tags or moles

  6. Claustrophobia

  7. Broken capillaries/veins

  8. Pregnancy

  9. Epilepsy

  10. Heart Conditions

  11. Cancer

  12. Metal Implants

PRE-FACIAL CARE

To ensure the best results and minimize any adverse reactions, follow these simple preparation steps before your facial:

  1. Avoid strong at-home facial treatments for at least five days before your appointment, including Retin-A, AHAs, scrubs, waxing, shaving, and depilatories (i.e., Nair). Since exfoliation is a key part of your facial treatment, we want to keep all options available for you.

  2. Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least five days before your facial. While you should always protect your skin from direct sunlight, this is especially important in the days before and after your service.

  3. Be prepared to share the names of your current skincare products. This information helps your esthetician understand your skin's condition and tolerance levels. They can then provide targeted recommendations to help you achieve your skincare goals.

  4. Stay well-hydrated—both by drinking water and moisturizing your skin—particularly if you need extractions. When skin is dehydrated, it tightens around impactions, making them harder to remove. Severely dehydrated skin is considered "compromised," and while facials help improve this condition, they may require a gentler approach.

POST-FACIAL CARE

Schedule your skin treatment on a day when you have few obligations. For the remainder of the treatment day, avoid:
• Touching your face
• Excess heat exposure
• Wearing masks or makeup
• Exercise
• Outdoor activities

Keep your skin hydrated and moisturized, avoid exfoliation for at least 3 days, and protect your skin from direct sun exposure with sunscreen. Your esthetician will provide any additional specific aftercare instructions after your service. Note that not following these instructions may cause adverse reactions.

After your first visit, we'll recommend home care products, and a sample regimen will be available for purchase. These products serve two purposes: they extend the results of your facial and help prevent adverse reactions, particularly after intensive treatments like dermaplaning. We strongly encourage clients who plan to continue treatments to invest in the recommended products—without proper home care support, treatment results may be limited and temporary.
